Collectors’ Club vision for this season is drawn from Elizabeth Peyton’s intimate, small-scale portraits of celebrities, friends and historical
figures.
Characterised by transparent washes of pigment and a jewel-tone palette, Peyton’s works address notions of idolatry and obsession. ‘The portrait’ becomes a capture of a feeling in a moment, defying the intentions of today’s ‘selfie’.

The key word of the collection is ‘tactility’, bringing enormous focus on fabrics with various textures and touches, from soft and fluffy mohairs, cashmere, wool bouclé and merino, to shiny satins and glossy coated waterproofs, and further on to a multitude of velvets: oversized corduroy, plush, liquid or crushed.

Prints make a subtle accent and complete the collection, reminding us of the interior textile details from Peyton’s portraiture background settings: a flower print sofa, an ikat armchair or a checked throw blanket, subtly contributing to a mood which remains intimate and comfortable, but always evoking an authentic sense of wonder and femininity.
